Jayashankar Bhupalpally: Incharge Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangram Singh G Patil and other police officials paid floral tributes to police dog Julie which died of illness on Wednesday.
Sangram Singh said the 12-year-old Julie was inducted into the police department in 2009 when she was one-year-old and it had served in erstwhile Warangal district, and four years each in Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts. Julie, a Labrador, had worked as a sniffer dog and was involved in several operations.
“Julie played a key role in detecting the land mines and bombs. It is painful that it has passed away,” he added. The SP laid flowers at Julie’s body. Additional SP V Srinivasulu, Reserve Inspectors (RIs) Santosh, Satish Chakravarthy, Inspectors Devender Rao, Saidarao, Bhupalpally RSIs Thomas Reddy, Raju, Julie’s handler P Ramesh and other team members of the bomb squad paid tributes and attended the funeral rites.
