Hyderabad: Corporators of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Wednesday reacted in a unique way to the vandalising of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office by BJP corporators.

The reaction was by washing the GHMC logo with milk. The logo on Tuesday was defaced with black spray paint by the BJP corporators. The TRS corporators, who also took up the cleansing of the Mayor’s Chamber, also gave a letter to Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi seeking strict action against those who resorted to violence.

“How can the meeting be held when there is a poll code. A virtual General Body meeting was held and importance was given to BJP corporators. Damaging public property is unfortunate. And how can Bandi Sanjay say that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are not available in office? He will know the facts only after he visits the office,” Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shoban Reddy said.

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also criticised the BJP State president saying he should not support those who vandalised the GHMC head office.

Meanwhile, the police said they were collecting footage from surveillance cameras in the GHMC office.

“After collecting the footage, we will identify those involved. The legal procedure will be followed and a charge sheet will be filed in court after investigation,” DCP (Central ) P Vishwa Prasad said. The police booked a case against the BJP corporators under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
