Hyderabad: Cotelligent, a TechDemocracy company, has set up a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for cyber security in Hyderabad. The facility will play a key role in assisting businesses in managing cyber threats, meeting compliance requirements, as well as serving as a hub for global cyber security innovation. Alex Lam, Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, TechDemocracy shares with Telangana Today the vision for Cotelligent and market opportunities it sees both domestic and worldwide.
Core sectors
Though all the sectors recognise the importance of cyber security today, from Cotelligent’s perspective and strategic strengths, we have strong capabilities, historically in areas such as healthcare, higher education and financial services. We will focus on them. Cyber threats are impacting other industries as well, with different degrees of impact. We want to help all those industries that are going through digital transformation and automation. We will focus on new verticals as well, as opportunities arise.
Portfolio of offerings
We have capabilities to mine data that is stored in devices and networks proactively, to derive useful insights for clients. The Cotelligent team in India will leverage the best practices across consulting delivery and software tools such as ‘Intellicta’, developed by Hyderabad team, to provide senior business decision-makers to evaluate the in-depth effectiveness of their cyber security, governance, risk, and compliance programmes. We want to give a dashboard view to CIOs on potential threats and severity of incidents.
Ramp up plan
Cotelligent has drawn out plans to onboard 1,000 cyber warriors over the next five years. We will be coming out with strategies and partnerships in various practice areas including tackling cyber crime to build an active ecosystem for cyber security. We will build use cases and enhance the talent base, creating cyber warriors needed for the future. We have already invested Rs 120 crore in Hyderabad CoE and as we expand our operations, we look to scale further.
Hyderabad ecosystem
We saw a vibrant ecosystem in Hyderabad, driven by the State government’s thought leadership, strategy and forward thinking to enable companies to invest and grow. There are several economic programmes that are put in place to encourage the industry here. There is also a quality workforce available in the city in the cyber security space. We also feel that we will receive the needed support from organisations such as TASK and Nasscom on the skill development front.
Supporting Telangana
Cotelligent can complement the training efforts of the State government bringing in the practical exposure to identity security. We serve Fortune 500 companies in the US and work with identity security partners who are globally known. We will be able to take real life project experience and formalise that into training methodology, which will be compelling and useful for the State government.
Market opportunities
The new CoE will be able to serve multinationals and Indian companies, particularly in the software industry. India will certainly offer a significant business opportunity in addition to global markets.
