Kothagudem: A BRS candidate, Madasu Padma, who contested from the 54th division in the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation, has released a selfie video threatening to die by suicide, alleging irregularities in the counting of votes on Friday.
She alleged that out of the total 1,000 votes cast in her favour in the first round, 418 votes were counted and 100 votes were kept aside by election staffer Venkat Naik without being counted. The officials did not pay attention to the matter despite her complaining several times, she said.
Padma alleged that the election returning officer refused to accept a written complaint she submitted seeking recounting of votes. The officials colluded with the ruling party and caused her injustice, she said.
The candidate also wrote a letter to the District Collector demanding justice and recounting of votes. The incident has caused a stir in local political circles.
