Medak: Police arrested a man and his wife on charges of killing a woman to steal her gold and silver ornaments. The couple, Vallepu Kanakaiah and his wife Prameela befriended the victim Maloth Lalitha (48) in a toddy compound a few days ago. After consuming toddy, they lured Lalitha to accompany them by promising to take her to Yadadri temple.
On their way to the temple on their two-wheeler, they stopped at Peerla Thanda and strangled her to death. Later they decamped with her gold and silver ornaments. Lalitha’s family members had lodged a missing complaint with the Chegunta police.
During investigations, police found that the missing woman was last seen with a couple from Masaipet. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Kanakaiah and Prameela of Ghanpur in Toopran. The victim hailed from Saju Thanda near Chegunta.
