COVA study finds Citizenship Programme boosts civic awareness among students
A multi-year evaluation of COVA Peace Network’s Compassionate Citizenship Programme found significant improvements in students’ social awareness, environmental consciousness, civic responsibility, and community participation. The report recommends expanding similar initiatives to educational institutions nationwide for holistic student development.

Hyderabad: A multi-year statistical evaluation of the COVA Peace Network’s Compassionate Citizenship Programme (CCP) has indicated that the initiative had a positive impact on fostering social responsibility and civic consciousness among school students.
The study, taken up between 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2025-26, utilised scientific evaluation methods to track student progress and collect data across pre-implementation, mid-term, and post-programme stages, analysing the data through advanced statistical tools, Mazher Hussain of COVA Peace Network said.
The evaluation revealed progress in all major parameters. The CCP achieved significant improvement in social awareness, strong improvement in environmental consciousness, demonstrated increase in civic responsibility and community participation over the observed periods.
The report has advocated for the implementation of similar citizenship initiatives in various educational institutions nationwide to support holistic student development and overall benefit of society, COVA said.
