Covid-19: 2909 new cases and six fatalities in Telangana on Friday

The active Covid-19 cases have continued to rise, with the cumulative total rising to 17,791 positive cases.

Hyderabad: The surge in Covid-19 cases continued in Telangana with health authorities reporting 2909 cases and six fatalities, on Friday.

For the second consecutive day, the health department conducted over a lakh Covid-19 tests across Telangana, which helped in detecting more number of Covid-19 infections.


Between Thursday and Friday, 1,11,726 Covid-19 tests were conducted while results of another 4533 samples are being processed.

The active Covid-19 cases have continued to rise, with the cumulative total rising to 17,791 positive cases out of which 11,495 positive individuals are under home and institutional isolation. The total number of fatalities as on Friday has reached 1752 in Telangana.

Unlike last year, when Hyderabad and surrounding areas reported a large number of Covid-19 infections, this year a large number of new infections are getting reported from smaller tier-II and tier-III towns too.

On Friday, 487 Covid-19 cases were reported from areas under GHMC while 289 positive cases were reported from Medchal-Malkajgiri district. A total of 225 positive cases were reported from Rangareddy and 202 from Nizamabad.

In Jagtiyal, authorities reported 121 positive cases while 102 positive cases were reported from Kamareddy district. Authorities reported another 131 positive cases from Nirmal and 117 new infections from Sangareddy district.

With 2909 new Covid-19 infections, the total number of positive cases since the pandemic has now reached 3,24,091. A total of 584 persons have recovered on Friday, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3,04,548 with a recovery rate of 93.96 percent, while the countrywide recovery rate was 90.8 percent. So far, a total of 1,08,73,665 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 3,24,091 have tested positive and 3,04,548 persons have recovered.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 70 from Adilabad, 35 from Bhadradri, 487 from areas under GHMC, 121 from Jagtiyal, 24 Jangaon, 13 from Bhupalpally, 11 from Gadwal, 102 from Kamareddy, 92 from Karimnagar, 66 from Khammam, 49 from Asifabad, 93 from Mahabubnagar, 18 from Mahabubabad, 77 from Mancherial, 44 from Medak, 289 from Medchal Malkajgiri, eight from Mulugu, 33 from Nagarkurnool, 89 from Nalgonda, 15 from Narayanpet, 131 from Nirmal, 202 from Nizamabad, 35 from Peddapalli, 63 from Siricilla, 225 from Rangareddy, 117 from Sangareddy, 82 from Siddipet, 48 from Suryapet, 60 from Vikarabad, 52 from Wanaparthy, 19 from Warangal Rural, 86 from Warangal Urban and 53 from Yadadri.
