COVID-19: 5,926 new cases and 18 deaths in Telangana on Monday

Hyderabad: Telangana on Monday had the largest single day rise in COVID-19 cases and fatalities with the State reporting 5,926 new cases and 18 deaths.

The second wave of the pandemic continued to be intense with an active caseload of 42,853.

The surge of COVID-19 is now documented across all parts of the State with 25 districts reporting more than 100 daily infections. On Monday, authorities conducted 1,22,143 Covid tests.

The areas under GHMC continued to remain worst affected with 793 cases followed by Medchal Malkajgiri with 488 and Rangareddy district with 455.

In the last 24 hours, 2209 positive patients have recovered, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3,61,359 with a recovery rate of 87.62 percent, while the countrywide recovery rate was 85.6 percent.

So far, a total of 1,19,42,985 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the State.

The case fatality rate, which is the proportion of individuals who die among all the COVID-19 positive persons, in Telangana was at 0.51 percent while across the country it is 1.2 percent.

The COVID-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 105 from Adilabad, 113 from Bhadradri,205 from Jagtiyal, 78 Jangaon, 31 from Bhupalpally, 33 from Gadwal, 262 from Kamareddy, 168 from Karimnagar, 247 from Khammam, 36 from Asifabad, 195 from Mahabubnagar, 59 from Mahabubabad, 188 from Mancherial, 124 from Medak, 488 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 31 from Mulugu, 149 from Nagarkurnool, 144 from Nalgonda, 41 from Narayanpet, 167 from Nirmal, 444 from Nizamabad, 96 from Peddapalli, 116 from Siricilla, 455 from Rangareddy, 184 from Sangareddy, 167 from Siddipet, 121 from Suryapet, 129 each from Vikarabad and Wanaparthy, 103 from Warangal Rural, 208 from Warangal Urban and 117 from Bhongir.
