Covid-19: 7,432 cases and 33 fatalities in Telangana on Friday

The number of active cases in Telangana has gone-up to 58,148 with 40,729 positive patients in home isolation or institutional Covid care centres.

Covid-19: 7,432 cases and 33 fatalities in Telangana on Friday

Hyderabad: The second wave of the Covid pandemic in Telangana continued to remain grim with new cases rising at a rapid pace.

On Friday, health authorities recorded 7,432 new Covid infections and 33 fatalities across Telangana, pushing the overall death toll to 1961.

This is for the first time that Telangana has recorded such a large number of positive cases and fatalities in one day, since the start of the pandemic. Areas under GHMC, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts have also registered a sharp rise in new cases.

The number of active cases in Telangana has gone-up to 58,148 with 40,729 positive patients in home isolation or institutional Covid care centres while 17,419 positive cases, as on Friday morning, are admitted to private and government hospitals.

Between Friday and Saturday, officials conducted 1,03,770 rapid Covid tests out of which samples of another 5, 136 persons are awaited.

So far, a total of 1,23,84,797 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 3, 87,106 have tested positive and 3, 26, 997 persons have recovered.

The areas under GHMC have reported 1464 new Covid infections, while 606 cases were reported from Medchal-Malkajgiri and 504 cases from Rangareddy district. The overall number of Covid infections so far in Telangana has reached 3,87,106. In the last 24-hours, 2,157 positive patients have recovered, pushing the total recoveries to 3,26,997 with a recovery rate of 86.16 percent, compared to the countrywide recovery rate of 83.5 percent.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 121 from Adilabad, 213 from Bhadradri, 1464 from areas under GHMC, 185 from Jagtiyal, 54 Jangaon, 39 from Bhupalpally, 53 from Gadwal, 247 from Kamareddy, 215 from Karimnagar, 325 from Khammam, 85 from Asifabad, 280 from Mahabubnagar, 136 from Mahabubabad, 222 from Mancherial, 149 from Medak, 606 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, 58 from Mulugu, 103 from Nagarkurnool, 122 from Nalgonda, 41 from Narayanpet, 120 from Nirmal, 486 from Nizamabad, 100 from Peddapalli, 132 from Siricilla, 504 from Rangareddy, 204 from Sangareddy, 192 from Siddipet, 67 from Suryapet, 168 from Vikarabad, 149 from Wanaparthy, 122 from Warangal Rural, 323 from Warangal Urban and 147 from Bhongir.
