Hyderabad: Given the spike in Covid-19 positive cases in the city, merchants in the ever busy Begum Bazaar have decided to keep all kirana shops in the bazaar closed in the evening hours.
According to Hyderabad Merchants Association, several traders were infected with Covid-19 in the last few days and accordingly a decision was taken to implement precautionary measures in the business establishments.
“We have decided to keep the shops open only between 9 am and 5 pm from Friday till the situation is under control. We also told traders not to open shops if they develop symptoms,” said association president, Laxminarayan Rathi.
All the shops in the area were also told to practise social distancing without failure and ensure the customers also practised the same.
Begum Bazar is one of the biggest commercial markets in the city with people from different parts of the city and beyond, coming here to purchase different goods. The retail and wholesale market for household commodities is packed with customers throughout the year.
