Hyderabad: In view of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, the Osmania University (OU) has decided to constitute the PG examination centres in certain district headquarters outside the OU jurisdiction also, enabling students, who are now in their native places, to appear for the PG final semester/year examinations in the nearest centre.

A software application will be provided on the university website for students to exercise their options and select the nearest examination centre. The college principals have been asked to coordinate the activity so that students from their respective colleges exercise options for choosing a centre for the exams which will be held in offline mode.

The university will allot the exam centre for students who do not exercise any option, the OU said, in its special instructions issued to exam chief superintendents.

This provision is applicable for PG final semester/year exams of MSc/MA/MCom/MSW/MLibSc/MJ&MC/MCom (IS)(CBCS regular, backlog and improvement) (conventional and professional) for the academic year 2019-20.

The university will conduct another special examination, as and when feasible, for such students who will not be able to appear for all exams of the semester/year for reasons of health or other unavoidable situations.

The colleges, where centres are constituted, were directed to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols. If needed face masks, must be made available to students and staff, the OU said, adding that all those entering the premises must be thermally screened.

The colleges may conduct the second internal test, if not held already, in online/offline or blended mode, and the marks of the same should be uploaded through the link provided by the University Examination Branch.

“Conduct of practical exams/project/seminar/internships viva is entrusted to the principals of respective colleges, who can take all necessary steps, including the appointment of examiners. Practical exams may be conducted in offline/online mode, and scripts of the same should be sent to the exam branch after uploading the marks through the link provided by the Examination Branch. Project/seminar/internships viva may be conducted in online mode,” the OU said.

For MBA projects/seminar viva, no examiner should evaluate more than 180 students, failing which their bills will not be processed for payment, the university clarified. These special provisions will be applicable only for current academic session 2019-20 as a one-time measure due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
