Hyderabad: According to the announcement made by the Central government, appointments for the precautionary dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in India will begin from Saturday evening. te.
The eligible population – healthcare workers, frontline workers, and those above 60 years of age with comorbidities – who have already taken two doses of the vaccine, can directly book an appointment or walk into any of the Covid-19 vaccination centres.
According to Dr. V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, those who have received Covaxin will receive Covaxin, those who have received two doses of Covishield will receive Covishield.
Key information on precautionary doses:
1. No need for new registration for the precautionary or the third dose of the Covid vaccine. The eligible person will be able to get the precaution dose using their current Co-WIN account.
2. The eligible person can take an appointment or walk into any vaccination center to get the precautionary dose.
3. Online appointment facility starts by Saturday evening
4. Vaccination with onsite appointment starts on January 10
According to the Health Ministry, the administration of the third dose or precautionary dose would be given to beneficiaries after completion of 9 months i.e. 39 weeks from the date of administration of the second dose.
