Hyderabad: The surge of Covid-19 infections is continuing in Telangana with health authorities reporting 6,542 new cases and 20 fatalities as on Tuesday evening, the highest since the pandemic. The number of active Covid-19 infections went up to 46,488 and overall fatalities reached 1876. The cumulative number of Covid infections so far is 3,67,901.
The surge saw 22 districts reporting more than 100 daily infections on Tuesday. Between Monday and Tuesday, authorities conducted 1,30,105 Covid-19 rapid antigen tests while results of another 6242 samples are awaited.
The areas under GHMC reported 898 new cases by Tuesday evening while on Monday the number of new cases was 793. Medchal-Malkajgiri reported 570 cases while 532 cases were recorded in Rangareddy district.
In the last 24 hours, 2887 positive patients recovered, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3,19,537 at a recovery rate of 86.85 percent, while the countrywide recovery rate was 85 percent. So far, a total of 1,20,73,090 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State.
The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 98 from Adilabad, 128 from Bhadradri, 898 from areas under GHMC, 230 from Jagtiyal, 84 from Jangaon, 32 from Bhupalpally, 48 from Gadwal, 235 from Kamareddy, 203 from Karimnagar, 246 from Khammam, 37 from Asifabad, 263 from Mahabubnagar, 64 from Mahabubabad, 176 from Mancherial, 131 from Medak, 570 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 42 from Mulugu, 131 from Nagarkurnool, 285 from Nalgonda, 37 from Narayanpet, 143 from Nirmal, 427 from Nizamabad, 96 from Peddapalli, 124 from Siricilla, 532 from Rangareddy, 320 from Sangareddy, 147 from Siddipet, 130 from Suryapet, 135 from Vikarabad, 81 from Wanaparthy, 85 from Warangal Rural, 244 from Warangal Urban and 140 from Bhongir.
1.39 lakh vaccinated in Telangana on Tuesday
Hyderabad: The brisk pace of the Covid vaccination drive across Telangana has continued, with health authorities administering the vaccine to 1,39,190 individuals in 1,305 Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) across the State on Tuesday.
Since the launch of the Covid vaccination drive on January 16, a total of 28,68,553 persons in the State have received the first dose of the vaccine out of which 2,36,601 are healthcare workers, 2,14,721 are frontline workers and the remaining 24,17,231 comprise of individuals above 45 years.
So far, 4,100,132 individuals in the State have completed their Covid vaccination schedule by receiving both the doses. Of the 1,39,190 persons who received the vaccine on Tuesday, 1,20,722 received the first dose while 18,468 got the second dose.
According to the vaccine bulletin released on Wednesday, so far Telangana has received 33,91,330 vaccine doses, 62,970 vaccine doses for armed forces and 14,750 vaccine doses are available as buffer with CVCs for advance scheduling. The net vaccine consumed in Telangana is 33,13,610 doses with a vaccine wastage percentage of 1.36 percent.
