COVID-19 vaccine: 2,96,976 individuals in priority group inoculated

Hyderabad: A total of 2,96,976 individuals above the age of 60 years and those between 45 years and 59 years of age with comorbid conditions have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Telangana, health officials here said on Thursday.
So far since the launch of Covid-19 vaccination drive on January 16, the health authorities have inoculated first dose of Covid vaccine to 6,13,625 individuals including healthcare and frontline workers, senior citizens and those between 45 years and 59 years with pre-existing medical conditions. The cumulative number of healthcare and frontline workers who have received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine is 2,29,539, according to the State Covid-19 vaccination bulletin.
Since the launch of the special Covid-19 vaccination drive for priority age groups on March 1, out of the 2,96,976 individuals, 2,15,685 were senior citizens while 81,291 were beneficiaries aged between 45 years and 59 years with comorbidities.
On an average, on a daily basis, the health authorities are inoculating between 20,000 and 23,000 senior citizens and individuals between 45 years and 59 years. The second dose of Covid-19 vaccination to individuals in the priority group will start form March 29 across Telangana.
