Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalakar on Wednesday said Telangana was the only State to help private teachers in these times of Covid pandemic.

While other States were least bothered about private teachers, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has come forward to protect the interests of teachers by providing Rs 2,000 and 25 kg rice to each teacher.

Kamalakar launched the distribution of rice to private teachers in a programme held in Karimnagar on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said though neither the court nor organisation had demanded, the State government had provided 12 kg rice and Rs 1,500 money to the poor during the time of the first wave.

In the present second wave, private teachers have also been provided financial support as well as fine variety rice. Out of 1.45 lakh teachers available in the State, 1.30 lakh teachers registered their names in Unified Data Information of School Education (UDISE).

Rs 2,000 was deposited in the bank accounts of each teacher and 3,000 metric tonnes of rice worth Rs 11 crore was also distributed. Informing that the date would be updated frequently, the Minister promised to provide benefit to every teacher.

Over 8,000 teachers benefit from scheme

Adilabad: Adilabad Municipal chairperson Jogu Premender said the financial aid and 25 kg of rice would provide some relief to teachers working in private schools.

Speaking at a function where he distributed rice to teachers in Adilabad on Wednesday, Premender stated that the government was leaving no stone unturned in supporting the sectors affected by the Covid-19. He said that it was offering the relief helping the families of the teachers who lost livelihood due to Covid. He added that the aid was bringing smiles to the faces of the teachers.

District Educational Officer Ravinder Reddy who was present at the programme said that steps were being taken to provide the relief to all the eligible teachers. He stated that over 8,000 teachers across the erstwhile Adilabad district had applied for availing the scheme. He advised them not to worry if the aid was delayed.
