Visakhapatnam: As part of COVID control measure, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has banned sale of meat and seafood on Sunday.

The meat shops in the city and the fishing harbour where fish and shrimp are on sale, are always found crowded with people jostling with each other to buy fish and meat throwing caution to the wind, without following norms such as wearing masks and social distancing. Fearing the spread of the pandemic due to this, the civic authorities closed meat shops last Sunday and encouraged by the success, announced a similar ban on May 30 also.
