Covid scare: Tribals in Adilabad appease deity
Tribal women carried water in steel vessels from borewells and agriculture wells to the temple of the deity located on the outskirts of Muthnoor village
Adilabad: In a unique ritual, tribal women offered special prayers to the village deity seeking eradication of coronavirus at Muthnoor village in Indervelli mandal on Tuesday.
The women performed the ritual using water to appease Goddess Pochamma. They then offered ‘naivedyam’ and revered the deity, requesting her to ward off the disease. They carried water in steel vessels from borewells and agriculture wells to the temple of the deity located on the outskirts of the village.
Head of the village or patel HK Jangu said that the prayers were meant for the happiness, health and safety of people. He stated that they had worshipped the goddess following the outbreak of the deadly virus. He requested the villagers to follow Covid-19 protocol.
Sarpanch Thumram Jangu Bai, vice sarpanch Kumram Maruti, among many others were present.
