Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar informed the Central government that Telangana government was following Covid guidelines stringently and said the situation in the State was under control.

The positivity rate is 0.43 and less than 200 cases were being reported daily in the State. Occupancy in the hospitals, both private and government, was also low, he said.

Participating in a video conference with Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba here on Saturday, the Chief Secretary briefed him about the measures being taken in the State.
Rapid Antigen tests were being conducted at 1,100 locations across the State, which has been the game changer in the State, he observed. “If anyone was found positive, immediately a medicine kit is being given to the persons” Somesh Kumar said.

The Union Cabinet Secretary emphasised on the need to act decisively in terms of containment and surveillance. He wanted to stress on large scale vaccination, which would help in arresting the rising trend of Covid cases.

In reply, Chief Secretary said that more than 75 percent of health workers and frontline workers were inoculated. The state is fully prepared to roll out third phase vaccination from March 1, he informed.
