Karimnagar: Cracking the whip on private hospitals for alleged violation of rules and overcharging Covid patients, the Health Department on Thursday revoked permission given to six private hospitals to treat Covid patients. The permissions for the hospitals were cancelled for 15 days. District Medical and Health Officer Dr Juveria issued orders to this effect.
The hospitals are — Pullela private hospital, Murugan hospital, Krishna Lepakshi Multispecialty and Critical Care Center, Mamata hospital of Jammikunta, Sri Vijaya Sai hospital and Suraksha hospital.
Based on the complaints that huge amounts have been collected from patients, a vigilance committee conducted checking in hospitals and issued show-cause notices. As the management of hospitals failed to respond to notices, officials initiated action on Thursday.
Hospitals were instructed not to provide any kind of treatment to patients including outpatient (OP) services. The patients who were undergoing treatment in hospitals should be discharged by completing treatment. It was also established in checking that besides high fees, the condition of sanitation was also in bad shape in hospitals.
