Hyderabad: The surge in daily Covid-19 positive cases in Telangana has continued with health authorities on Wednesday reporting 1520 infections across the State out of which 979 positive cases were from areas under GHMC. On Tuesday, authorities had reported 1052 infections in Telangana out of which 659 cases were from areas under GHMC.

The Omicron variant appears to be spreading in other urban centers in Telangana, as Medchal-Malkajgiri has reported 132 positive cases while 174 positive infections were reported from Rangareddy district.


Health authorities on Wednesday also reported a fatality, taking the overall number of deaths to 4034 in Telangana. The total number of positive cases so far in Telangana has reached 6, 84, 543 while the number of active cases as on Wednesday was 6, 168.

The authorities on Wednesday conducted 42, 531 Covid tests of which results of 7, 039 samples were awaited. A total of 209 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 98.51 per cent on Wednesday.

So far, a total of 2, 98, 83, 141 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 6, 85, 543 have tested positive and 6, 75, 341 persons have recovered.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 16 from Bhadradri Kothagudem, 979 from areas under GHMC, three from Jagityal, four from Jangaon, five from Jogulamba Gadwal, three from Kamareddy, 12 from Karimnagar, 21 from Khammam, two from Komarambheem Asifabad, eight from Mahabubnagar, 13 from Mahabubabad, eight from Mancherial, five from Medak, 132 from Medchal-Malkajgiri, two from Mulugu, one from Nagarkurnool, 13 from Nalgonda, two from Narayanpet, five from Nirmal, 16 from Nizamabad, six from Peddapalli, five from Rajanna Siricilla, 174 from Rangareddy, 26 from Sangareddy, 10 from Siddipet, 16 from Suryapet, two from Vikarabad, eight from Wanaparthy, four from Warangal Rural, 13 from Hanumakonda and six from Yadadri Bhongir.
