Hyderabad: The massive surge in daily Covid-19 positive cases driven by the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 in Telangana has continued with health authorities on Friday reporting 2295 positive cases out of which 1452 positive infections were from areas under GHMC. Health officials have also reported three fatalities on Friday, which has taken the overall number of deaths in TS to 4,039.

On Thursday, Telangana had reported 1913 positive infections out of which 1214 were from areas under GHMC.


The Omicron variant Covid infections are also registering a significant increase in other urban centres of Telangana with 232 positive infections in Medchal-Malkajgiri and 218from Rangareddy district.

The total number of positive cases so far in Telangana has reached 6,89,751 while the number of active cases as on Friday was 9861.

The authorities on Friday conducted 64,474 Covid tests of which results of 10, 336 samples were awaited. A total of 278 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 98.98 per cent on Friday.

So far, a total of 3,00,02,149 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 6,89,751 have tested positive and 6, 75, 851 persons have recovered.
