Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police on Monday arrested a man on charges of cheating a vernacular TV channel in the guise of providing vaccination to its employees at a cheaper rate. Sources said the suspect, identified as Nagarjuna Reddy, claimed that he was calling from a Minister’s office and told the channel management that he could provide Covid-19 vaccination at Rs 100 per dose.
The channel, believing it to be a good deal, paid Rs 1.5 lakh for the vaccination drive for 1,500 employees. However, after receiving the money, Reddy stopped responding. Following a complaint from the channel management, the Cybercrime police booked a case and with the help of technical evidence, traced and nabbed him.
