Sangareddy: The CPI (M) will decide on its new State secretary for Telangana on Tuesday. After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Tammineni Veerabadhram was made the first secretary of Telangana. He has led the party for more than a decade.
However, the party will elect the second secretary of Telangana during the ongoing fourth State Mahasabha’s concluding day on Tuesday. The meeting has been going on in Sangareddy since January 25.
Forrmer party floor leader and former Miryalaguda MLA Julakanti Ranga Reddy, Party State committee member S Veeraiah and senior leader from Mahabubnagar John Wesley are said to be in the race for the post.
Though a few other leaders threw their hats into the ring, the party cadre and leaders felt that the contest would be only between these three leaders. While Rangareddy has experience of working as a legislator, the rest two leaders have no such experience. However, Veeraiah, known as an intellectual, has strong relationships at the national level and an understanding of the issues of the nation. There may be a secret voting if these three contenders insist on their election.
The new secretary of the CPI (M) in Telangana will be decided within a few hours from now.
