Khammam: CPI (ML) Massline state secretary Potu Ranga Rao has demanded the Congress government to immediately stop the destruction of green cover in University of Hyderabad (UoH).
He wanted the government to withdraw its decision to take possession of 400 acres of land of the university. He condemned the act of engaging dozens of earth movers to uproot trees on the campus during holidays, without allowing the students to go to the court.
Ranga Rao told the government to hold discussions with the students and the university administration to resolve the issue in favour of the UoH. He wanted the government, political parties and people’s organisations to be committed to protect environmental balance in Hyderabad.
He lamented that it has become practice for the State and Central government to sell the public properties to private parties. The political parties when in opposition protest against such acts and when they come to power follow the same practice.
Meanwhile the police have detained a large number of student activists and political parties leaders across erstwhile Khammam district in the day.
