Hyderabad: CRCL LLP, one of the large domestically managed contractual food services companies, has plans to up its operations in Hyderabad as well as set up a central kitchen here. It wants to cater to companies coming up in Pharma City and in various industrial parks apart from IT, ITeS, and other manufacturing companies.
“Between the central kitchen and onsite kitchens (client premises), we are looking at creating a capacity to make 30,000 meals a day. We will create regular employment to about 2,000 people in 12 to 18 months. About 80 per cent of the employment will be for locals,” DRE Reddy, CEO, CRCL LLP, told Telangana Today. This is part of the plan to double its existing capacity of 1.5 lakh meals per day.
The company, which is providing cafeteria management services to top corporates including some Fortune 500 clients, is now headquartered in Chennai. It currently has two kitchens in Chennai and one at Tada in Andhra Pradesh. Onsite kitchens account for about 70 to 75 per cent of its business and the remaining comes from own kitchens, he said.
It is already present in Hyderabad for the last five years and is providing meals to a large manufacturing company in Patancheru industrial area from the client’s premises. It is doing about 3,000 meals a day, he said. The company is employing about 2,800 people across the country, he said.
The proposed central kitchen will be in a 40-minute drive to cater to companies in Pharma City and select IT and ITeS clusters in the city, he said.
“Hyderabad so far was just seen as an IT hub. Now, a transformation is happening and the pharma sector is picking up fast post-Covid. TS is setting up the Pharma City and has announced 10 other industrial parks across sectors. With the announcement of EV policy, the State will attract a lot of automobile original equipment manufacturers leading to large scale employment. Telangana’s GDP growth has been higher than country’s average in the last two years. We see a huge potential for us to expand in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. But for the pandemic, we would have already set up a huge kitchen near Hyderabad,” he said.
“We know the culture of Telangana and we know what menus have to be served here. For instance, the menu we offer in Patancheru is entirely different from what we serve in Chennai. Catering is not a one-size-fits-all solution,” said Reddy.
