Telangana, the 29th State, was created on 2 June 2014.

The state of Telangana was officially formed on 2 June 2014.In February 2014, Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 bill was passed by the Parliament of India for the formation of Telangana state comprising ten districts from north-western Andhra Pradesh.
Significance
On July 1, 2013, the Congress Working Committee unanimously passed a resolution to recommend the formation of a separate Telangana state. After various stages, the Bill was placed in Parliament in February 2014. In February 2014, Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 Bill was passed by the Parliament for the formation of Telangana State. The bill received the assent of the President and was published in the gazette on 1 March 2014.
Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) was elected as the first chief minister of Telangana, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party secured a majority.
Telangana Formation Day symbolises the day when the State of Telangana was officially separated from Andhra Pradesh. This day celebrates the success of the Telangana movement that led to the birth of a new State. On this day, the State Chief Minister hoists the national flag.
After several years of protest and agitation, the central government, under the United Progressive Alliance, decided to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and on February 7, 2014, the Union Cabinet cleared the Bill for the creation of Telangana.
Telangana, the 29th State, was created on 2 June 2014. It was a historic day as the aspirations of lakhs of people came true in the form of a new State.
