Crime against women rises in Medak, road accidents decline
Crime against women increased in Medak district during the year, according to the annual report released by SP DV Srinivas Rao. While women-related offences rose, the district recorded a significant decline in road accidents and accident-related deaths.

Medak: Crime against women increased in Medak district during the year, while road accidents declined considerably.
According to the annual crime report released by SP DV Srinivas Rao on Monday, cases recorded under the crime against women category rose to 417 from 355 last year, registering a 17.50 per cent increase compared to the previous year. In particular, cases booked under BNS Sections 74 and 75, relating to outrage of modesty of women, increased from 77 in 2024 to 101 in 2025, marking a 31 per cent rise.
Road accident deaths declined by 29 per cent during the year. The district reported 350 road accident deaths in 2024, which came down to 247 this year. The number of road accidents also declined to 598 from 636 last year, while the number of persons injured in road accidents fell to 598 from 625.
The total number of cases reported in the district increased to 5,388 from 4,871 last year, reflecting a 9.6 per cent rise. Elopement cases also increased from 40 to 49 during the period.
