Hyderabad: Terming agriculture as the future of Telangana State, Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy wanted the officials concerned to collect information pertaining to crop booking in a fool-proof manner by conducting field visits.

He pointed out that based on the field level information for the current season, the government can prepare proper estimates for next season with regard to crop production, fertilisers, chemicals and seeds as well as crop marketing.

“Recognising the importance of crop information for further action, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao decided to take up crop booking for the first time in the country. We must live upto the expectations by collecting proper data, failing which the government will not hesitated to take action against the erring authorities,” the Minister said during a video conference on cluster-wise crop booking for Vaanakalam and Yasangi seasons last year.

Niranjan Reddy asked the AEOs (Agricultural Extension Officers) to record authentic information with regard to crop booking between second week of June and first week of September. He asserted that there should no lapses in recording the crop booking data and advised the officials to bring any field-level issues to the government’s notice for redressing them at the earliest.

On the occasion, the Minister grieved over the death of 15 officers and employees of the agriculture department due to Covid-19 and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also stated that all preparations have been completed for distribution of Rythu Bandhu financial support to farmers in the State from June 15.

Agriculture commissioner Raghunandan Rao and other officials were also present.
