Kota: A 50-year-old CRPF jawan was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the Kota Railway Station, with police investigating the cause of death, officials said on Sunday. The deceased, Amarendra Ray, a resident of Manikpur in Assam’s Bongaigaon district, posted with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, was found lying unconscious on Platform No 2 of the railway station early Saturday, they said.

Circle Inspector, Government Railway Police (GRP), Kota, Guljari Lal said the station master informed police around 4.30 am that a man was lying unconscious on the platform.

A GRP team and a railway doctor reached the spot, and the person was declared dead after examination, he said. Documents recovered from his possession helped establish his identity. The body bore no visible injury marks, officer said.

After Ray’s family members reached Kota on Sunday, the body was handed over to them after post-mortem and a case under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was lodged for investigation into the cause of death, Lal said, adding that the family has not levelled any allegations.

According to police, Ray had left his home on July 2 after spending holidays with family and was on his way to rejoin duty in Neemuch, though he stayed in a few cities en route.
