Warangal Urban: Pulled up by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar over the slow progress of survey of non-agricultural properties under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits, District Collector RajIv Gandhi Hanumanthu and GWMC commissioner Pamela Satpathy visited several localities in the city to inspect the process on Wednesday.
The State government launched the process of survey of non-agricultural properties in gram panchayats, municipalities and municipal corporations, including the GWMC limits, to update details on Dharani portal for issue of non-agricultural passbooks from October 1. However, staff of the civic body completed only 11,157 assessments against a total of 2,12,417 properties under the GWMC till Tuesday.
Sources said Somesh Kumar, who held a video conference, reprimanded both the Collector and Commissioner for the delay in the process and directed them to take steps to ramp up survey process. Following this, the Collector decided to increase the number of staff to 500 from 200 who have already been deployed for the survey. “Bill collectors, Revenue Inspector (RIs), senior assistants, junior assistants, VROs, VRAs and other staff of various departments will be deputed to complete the process by October 12,” the Collector said, adding that each employee must complete survey of 50 properties.
Later, the Collector along with the Commissioner visited Brahmanavada and Kothur localities to get updates at the field level. They enquired with the staff about the problems or technical issues being faced during the survey and asked them to contact higher officials immediately in case they faced problems. He also stressed on the accuracy in the information being uploaded to the Dharani App.
