Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Saturday visited the Area Hospital in Golconda to oversee the ongoing vaccination drive and other infrastructure works being taken-up for Covid-19 positive patients.

Following directions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, health authorities have started works related to providing direct oxygen lines to 100 beds in the facility. A few beds have also been earmarked for maternal care and those needing emergency healthcare services. A new floor is being added at the Area Hospital where 120 beds will be made available for Covid patients in another three weeks.


During the visit, Somesh Kumar inspected the second dose administration of Covid vaccine to eligible individuals. Senior health officials said that waiting time for each beneficiary is anywhere between 15 minutes and 30 minutes. The ongoing vaccination dive for beneficiaries will be conducted till May 12.

During the visit, he interacted with the staff of the Area Hospital and appreciated them for working hard and maintaining quality in health care services during the ongoing pandemic. Health Secretary, SAM Rizvi, GHMC Commissioner, Lokesh Kumar, Director Medical Education, Dr Ramesh Reddy and other senior health officials were present.
