Sangareddy: Cybercrime DSP N Venugopal Reddy called upon students of JNTU-Sulthanpur not to fall prey to cyber fraudsters in the hope of earning easy money.

During a “Cyber Jagrukta” programme organised on the campus premises at Sulthanpur on Wednesday, the DSP said that most of the cybercrime victims were highly educated people. He said cyber frauds were attracting people with offers such as multi-level marketing and online trading, besides trapping them through so-called digital arrest. Cyber fraudsters were also using artificial intelligence effectively to lure people.

He informed the students that cyber criminals were cashing in on the weaknesses of people who were expecting easy money. The DSP said no police officer makes a digital arrest in India. Reddy advised them to register complaints by calling 1930 if they lose money to online fraudsters. JNTU-Sulthanpur faculty members and local police participated in the event.
