Cyberabad civic body takes up last-mile connectivity study on JNTU-Miyapur-Raidurg corridor

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has proposed a traffic mobility and last-mile connectivity study along the 8.5-km JNTU-Miyapur-Raidurg Metro corridor. The study will assess pedestrian links, traffic congestion, crossings, school traffic, feeder services and access to Metro stations.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has proposed a traffic mobility and last-mile connectivity study along the JNTU-Miyapur-Raidurg Metro corridor to improve pedestrian movement, public transport links, traffic management and safe access to stations and surrounding areas.

The approximately 8.5-km corridor will be assessed for missing footpath links, pedestrian crossings, encroachments and unsafe stretches, according to a press release. The study will also identify suitable pick-up and drop-off bays and designated feeder auto-rickshaw stands at Metro stations and major junctions.

Officials will assess congestion points, accident-prone locations, signage, barricading, pedestrian crossings and traffic regulation requirements. The movement of school buses and vans, and congestion caused by parents’ vehicles during peak hours, will also be assessed.

The study will explore designated school pick-up and drop-off zones away from main carriageways and the integration of walking, cycling, feeder autos and e-autos with schools, offices, residential areas and commercial establishments.
