Hyderabad: The Amangal police arrested a police constable on charges of cheating, raping and impregnating a woman police constable after promising to marry her, police said on Wednesday.
The cop, Nageshwar Rao (25), a 2019 batch constable currently posted at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, and the woman, belonged to the same batch and had earlier worked together at the same police station.
Police said the two became friends at work and moved intimately for nearly one and a half year. During this, Rao, allegedly promised to marry her and sexually violated her, resulting in her pregnancy. He then forcibly gave her some pills and got the pregnancy terminated.
“He continued to deceive her and after promising to marry her again and allegedly raped her. She became pregnant again. When she asked him about the marriage plan, he refused to marry her and started avoiding her,” the police said.
Based on a complaint from the woman, the Amangal police booked a case and arrested Nageshwar Rao, after which he was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody. , officials said.
