Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cybercrime Police solved 13 cases and arrested 25 persons from across the country in a pan-India crackdown conducted in a fortnight between December 31, 2025 and January 15, 2026.
Police said trading fraud emerged as the dominant offence, accounting for seven cases and 12 arrests. Other cases included job fraud, smishing, part-time job fraud, business fraud and general cyber fraud.
During the same period, the police also secured 182 refund orders in 50 cases through courts, enabling the refund of Rs 78.77 lakh to victims.
In a major case, police arrested two persons in a Rs 1.34 crore fake trading app scam, where fraudsters allegedly used a forged trading application to lure victims through social media ads and WhatsApp groups by showing manipulated profits.
In another case, two persons were arrested in a Rs 2.13 crore fake trading and crypto investment scam, in which victims were deceived through fake social media profiles and fraudulent trading platforms.
Police said the suspects used fake identities, shell companies and mule bank accounts to route and conceal the cheated money while blocking withdrawals and demanding additional charges from victims.
Cyberabad police cautioned the public against investment offers promising guaranteed or unusually high returns and urged citizens to report cyber frauds immediately by dialling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
