Cyberabad DCP goes undercover, busts prostitution racket at pub in Kukatpally

An IPS officer in Cyberabad, disguised as a software employee, conducted an undercover raid at Kings and Queens Pub in Kukatpally and busted a prostitution racket. Acting on specific intelligence, the officer signalled her team to move in, leading to the detention of nine persons.

Hyderabad: Dressed in civvies, passing off as a software employee out to chill on a weekend, an IPS officer, Riti Raj, the DCP of Kukatpally zone in Cyberabad, conducted an undercover operation and busted a prostitution racket run out of a pub.

On Saturday evening, the IPS officer walked alone into the Kings and Queens Pub, located at KPHB leaving her personal security officers a few metres away from the spot. There, she observed the situation for some time and also recorded videos of the happenings inside the club.

Later, on her signal, a team of other officers rushed into the pub and picked up nine persons including four women for questioning.

The raid was conducted based on specific inputs collected by the officer, who acted on the intelligence and conducted the operation. It was allegedly found that the management was luring customers through women and had failed to implement measures to prevent entry of minors into the premises.

The management was operating beyond the permitted timings, and was functioning without a valid police No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Inspector Kukatpally, S Raja Sekhar Reddy said that preliminary evidence collected during the raid indicated that the pub owner was allegedly using women to attract male customers for financial gain. The police also suspect the management was facilitating immoral activities and procuring women for customers.

The club had violated rules in the past and last year three cases were registered against the management. A case has been registered under BNS Act and PITA Act, and investigation is ongoing.
