Hyderabad: Commuters at the two key junctions of IIIT Junction and Khajaguda Junction in Cyberabad continue to face inconveniences as works on three flyovers and one underpass progressed at a slow pace.
The foundation works, pier construction, pier cap works, and girder casting have been underway at the work sites. The ongoing monsoon contributed to the slow progress, even as commuters’ anxiety rises as to when the works would be completed.
With traffic woes continuing at IIIT Junction and Khajaguda Junction for the past few months, civic body officials visited these areas and issued directions on accelerating the pace of works and set a target to complete them by May 2027.
A Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) engineering official told ‘Telangana Today’ that the agency concerned was asked to complete the infra works within the schedule, keeping in view the hardships faced by commuters on a daily basis.
At IIIT Junction, works for the multi-level grade separator project at the intersection connecting Gachibowli, Lingampally, Wipro Junction and Kondapur Road, a 4-lane bi-directional flyover from ISB Road to DLF Road, a 3-lane unidirectional flyover from DLF Road to Lingampally, a 3-lane unidirectional flyover from ISB Road to Gachibowli, and a 6-lane bi-directional underpass from Gachibowli to Lingampally, totalling 3.39 km, were in progress.
At Khajaguda Junction, works for the flyover and underpass project were taken up for a 3-lane unidirectional flyover from Nanakramguda to Shaikpet and a 3-lane unidirectional underpass from Shaikpet to Gachibowli, with a total length of 1.625 km.
Once completed, the road network infrastructure works were expected to improve connectivity towards Gachibowli, Lingampally, Kondapur Road, Wipro Junction, the Financial District and the Outer Ring Road, while reducing delays at the intersection.
