Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police have intensified investigation into the cheating case of a woman doctor by one Vishwajeet Jha alias Biswajeet Jha, an astrologer who allegedly duped her of Rs 80,000 by promising to help her clear the mandatory Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE).

According to the police, a special team comprising Cybercrime police and Gachibowli police suspect Jha could be in West Bengal or Uttar Pradesh. The teams have been sent to different places in these two States, apart from one team working on details of other victims.

The doctor, a resident of Kondapur in Gachibowli, had completed her MBBS abroad and had been preparing to clear the FMGE for over a year now. To clear the examination, she decided to seek the help of astrology and started searching online. She came across a Facebook profile with the name – Vishwajeeth Jha – and contacted the person using the phone number given. The person on the other side assured her help in getting through the examination by performing some special pujas and rituals to which she agreed by paying some money, police said, adding, she then appeared for the examination but failed to clear it. When she questioned him about the negative result, she was told that she needs to perform more rituals to pass the test.

“Then, she paid another Rs 70,000 in two installments to the bank account provided by that person. However, even after paying, she failed to clear the examination the second time too. When she tried to contact Jha, the person went incommunicado,” said the police.
