Hyderabad: Incidents involving children getting trapped inside parked vehicles and losing their lives due to suffocation are being reported frequently.

In view of this, the Cyberabad Police have urged citizens to take strict precautions to ensure such tragedies are prevented. These incidents are avoidable, when acted responsibly towards safeguarding children, they said.

The Cyberabad Police have issued an advisory urging to follow certain safety measures to avoid any tragedies, particularly involving children.

Police advisory for safety of children:

• Always check the car before locking, inspect both front and back seats

• Make it a habit—“Look Before You Lock.”

• Never leave children unattended in or around a vehicle

• Keep car keys out of children’s reach to prevent accidental access

• Educate children that cars are not safe places to play or hide

• Always lock your car when it is parked, even at home

• Install safety alerts such as rear seat reminders or child detection systems that notify if a child is left inside

• Avoid using black films or heavily tinted windows on car glass, as they reduce visibility

• Keep doors and windows closed and locked at all times when the vehicle is not in use.

• If a child goes missing, check inside the vehicle and nearby cars immediately
