Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police on Saturday launched Operation Smile–XII, a month-long special drive to trace missing children and rescue vulnerable minors across the commissionerate limits. The initiative will be carried out from January 1 to 30.
DCP, Women and Child Safety Wing, K Srujana Karnam, said the focus would be on identifying missing children and rescuing those forced into begging, rag picking, child labour, and human trafficking. Rescued children will be rehabilitated with the support of child welfare and allied departments.
Twelve special teams, each led by a sub-inspector and assisted by police personnel, including a woman constable, have been formed to conduct field operations at identified locations. Officials said facial recognition technology using the ‘Darpan’ mobile application will also be used to help trace missing children and reunite them with their families.
