Hyderabad: Organisers of rooster fight had brought 86 roosters from Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh in cars specially for the cock fighting. The Cyberabad Police had conducted a raid at a farm house in Tulkatta village in Moinabad and arrested 64 persons and seized Rs 30 lakh cash and 86 roosters.
Two persons, Bhupathi and Shiva Kumar, were organising the rooster fight at the farm house and had invited participants from AP to the venue. The police are puzzled why the organisers preferred to organise the event at a place located hundreds of kilometers away from Andhra Pradesh though such events are regularly organised there.
“Of the 64 persons caught, 61 were participating in the cock fighting and three others were workers. A total of 53 people came in cars all the way from different parts of Andhra Pradesh to participate in the gambling,” said DCP Rajendranagar, Ch Srinivas.
The police had seized Rs 30 lakh in cash, 86 roosters, 46 knives, 55 high end cars and casino coins worth Rs 1 crore. “We suspect huge transactions were done through United Payment Interface (UPI). Investigation is still going on. The phones of the organisers were seized,” said the official.
The raid was conducted on intelligence gathered by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (Rajendranagar) and the Cyberabad Armed Reserve, Special Operations Team and local teams participated in the raid conducted on Tuesday night.
