Cyberabad police urge IT firms to revamp transport, traffic practices

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have asked IT companies to overhaul employee transport systems to tackle worsening congestion along the IT corridors. At a stakeholder meeting chaired by Joint Commissioner Sunpreet Singh, measures such as carpooling, centralised corporate buses, and staggered office timings were recommended to ease peak‑hour traffic.

Hyderabad: With traffic congestion intensifying along the IT corridors, the Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged IT companies and other business establishments in the jurisdiction to overhaul employee transport and traffic management practices.

The recommendations were discussed at a stakeholder meeting organised by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), chaired by Sunpreet Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Cyberabad, along with senior police officials and representatives of the IT sector on Wednesday.

Police identified cabs and autos waiting outside office gates, single occupancy vehicles and concentrated peak hour movements as key causes of congestion.

Companies were asked to create internal pick-up and drop-off bays and prevent commercial vehicles from occupying public roads.

The police also pushed for carpooling, priority parking for shared vehicles and centralised corporate buses operating from major residential clusters rather than multiple low-occupancy shuttles run by individual companies.

IT firms have further been advised to introduce staggered login and logout timings to spread traffic across peak hours.
