Cyberabad Traffic Police book 333 motorists in weekend drunk driving crackdown
The Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 333 motorists during a weekend drunken driving enforcement drive. Two-wheeler riders accounted for most violations, while 21 offenders recorded exceptionally high blood alcohol levels. Police reiterated strict legal action for alcohol-related fatal road accidents.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad traffic police booked 333 motorists during a special weekend drive against drunken driving conducted across various parts of the commissionerate.
According to the police, the highest number of offenders was two-wheeler riders, with 269 cases registered, and followed by 51 four-wheeler drivers, 11 three-wheeler drivers and two heavy vehicle drivers.
The police said that 21 offenders registered high BAC levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. All the offenders will be produced before the court for further legal action.
The Cyberabad Police warned motorists against driving under the influence of alcohol. Officials said that any person found driving in an intoxicated condition and causing a fatal road accident would be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The offence carries a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment along with a fine.
