Cyberabad traffic police nab 529 for drunken driving in weekend drive
Cyberabad traffic police caught 529 people for drunken driving during a weekend drive. Most had BAC levels between 35 and 200 mg/100 ml. In earlier cases this month, 23 offenders were jailed, 27 assigned social service, and others fined
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad traffic police caught 529 persons for drunken driving during the special weekend drive. Among those caught are 417 two-wheeler riders, 24 three-wheeler drivers and 88 four-wheeler drivers. The Rajendranagar police caught 71 persons, followed by KPHB police – 54 persons, Gachibowli and Shadnagar – 42 persons each.
Of the total caught, 460 persons recorded Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels ranging from 35 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml.
Similarly, 40 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml and another 29 individuals had BAC levels ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. Cases have been booked against all the persons who have to appear before the court.
Earlier, the Cyberabad traffic police produced 357 persons, who were caught for drunken driving between November 3 and 7, before the court.
Convicting all the individuals, the court gave them different sentences. Only a fine was imposed on 307 persons, 27 persons were asked to do social service and pay a fine, while 23 persons were sent to jail and a fine was also imposed on them.
