Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police are intensively using technology and social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, to provide real-time traffic updates and help citizens plan their journeys efficiently across the city.
Through the Cyberabad ‘Traffic Pulse’ initiative, launched in collaboration with the Cyberabad Police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) last year, citizens receive instant alerts on traffic congestion, accidents, road diversions, restrictions and major city events directly on their mobile phones.
Officials said the service enables commuters to avoid heavily congested stretches, choose alternate routes and reduce travel time, especially during peak hours and adverse weather conditions.
Besides WhatsApp, alerts are also disseminated through Google RCS, SMS and Flash SMS platforms.
The initiative also allows citizens to register for route-specific notifications and interact with the traffic police by sharing feedback and suggestions through their dedicated WhatsApp number – 87126 63636.
