Hyderabad: In the backdrop of the arrest of ‘iBomma’ founder Ravi, Senior IPS officer and Special Chief Secretary of the Telangana Home Department, C V Anand has cautioned that cybercrime and online piracy will continue to evolve despite major crackdowns.
Writing on his ‘X’ account on Wednesday, he said it is ‘utopian’ to believe that hacking or piracy will cease with the arrest of any one individual.
Comparing cyber offences to traditional crimes such as theft and burglary, the former Hyderabad Police Commissioner noted that such activities have never ended with the capture of big gangs. He stressed that prevention and public awareness are the only long-term safeguards.
Anand further urged citizens to secure their digital spaces, recognise online threats early and avoid the greed for quick money, which he described as a root cause of rising cybercrime.
