Cyberfraudster from Maharashtra held for duping in Adilabad

Adilabad: A cyber fraudster from Maharashtra was arrested on Monday for allegedly duping a man in Adilabad by posing as a bank official, police said. A car, two mobile phones and SIM cards of various telecom networks were seized from him.
Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan said Chaitanya Pramod Kute, a native of Akola district, was apprehended in connection with the case.
Police said Kute allegedly extracted Rs 73,279 from a local resident, Prapul, in July on the pretext of activating his HDFC credit card.
During interrogation, Kute reportedly confessed to cheating Prapul. He also allegedly told investigators that he had duped around 150 people in Telangana and Goa by posing as a bank official.
According to police, Kute claimed to have collected Rs 95.33 lakh from the victims and diverted the money to his accounts on Amazon.
