Cycling expedition: CRPF personnel felicitated in Adilabad

Adilabad: Adilabad Collector Sikta Patnaik and in-charge Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra on Sunday felicitated 21 personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for their cycling expedition from New Delhi to Kanyakumari as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The expedition commenced on August 22 and would culminate on October 2, covering a distance of 2,850 kms.
Sikta and Rajesh welcomed the personnel to the district and then presented them with saplings. They then honored the men with shawls at a programme held in the district headquarters here and appreciated them for taking up the marathon cycling yatra to mark the landmark occasion. They joined the groups for a short distance and bid adieu.
Meanwhile, Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao felicitated the personnel with shawls and garlands on the premises of Echoda mandal cenre. Nirmal municipal chairperson Gandrath Eshwar, Additional Collector Hemanth Borkade and In-charge Superintendent of Police Ch Praveen Kumar accorded grand welcome to the members of the cycling team and feted them at a programme held in Nirmal.
Praveen Kumar said that the district police mechanism would extend all support to the personnel who embarked on an arduous journey from the capital of the country to Kanyakumari. He said that the personnel were protecting the country by facing odds. He hailed two members of the team for taking part in the event with artificial limbs.
