Daily wage worker electrocuted in Hyderabad; Relatives, co-workers allege company’s negligence

The relatives and co-workers of the deceased alleged negligence on part of the company’s management which led to the mishap. They said the owner had not responded in time when Kondaiah was electrocuted and due to the delay in shifting him to the hospital, he could not be saved

Hyderabad: A daily wage worker was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live electric wire while downloading load containing steel material at Varun Steel Traders at Lakshmiguda in Mailardevpally on Friday.

As per available information, Kondal alias Kondaiah (35) along with other workers was unloading steel load from a truck which had just arrived at the company.


The material he was carrying came into contact with a live electric wire, resulting in him receiving an electric shock and collapsing on the spot. He suffered grievous burns.

His co-workers shifted him to the nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

The Mailardevpally police are investigating.

Relatives and co-workers protest:

Meanwhile, the relatives and co-workers of Kondaiah alleged negligence on part of the company’s management which led to the mishap. They said the owner had not responded in time when Kondaiah was electrocuted and due to the delay in shifting him to the hospital, he could not be saved.

They staged a protest at the company and the Mailardevpally police station seeking justice for the deceased’s family. About over a 100 protestors lay siege the company demanding a compensation of Rs 15 lakh.

Due to the protest, traffic came to a standstill on the bus road. The police pacified the protestors and cleared the traffic.
