Mancherial: A daily-wage earner died after a portion of earth caved in on him while he was engaged in construction of an under-bridge of South Central Railway in Thandur mandal centre on Thursday.

Thandur Inspector K Babu Rao said the deceased was identified as Paturi Nageshwar Rao (32), a native of Piduguralla village in Guntur district.

Nageshwar was trapped under the debris which accidentally collapsed on him, resulting in instantaneous death for him. His co-workers alerted local police who rushed to the spot and brought out the body. He is survived by wife and two children.

Based on a complaint received from the victim’s brother-in-law, a case was registered under the Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations were taken up.
